Toolkit for Course Representatives
Tutor Resources
Welcome
Colleges are increasingly being asked to collect, listen to, and act upon learner's views in order to improve the educational experience. Colleges can do this is a wide variety of ways but for the majority, the foundations of any student representation structure is course representatives. These learners acting as ‘the voice’ for their class can play an extremely important role in ensuring that the teaching and learning they receive is personalised, continually improving, and relevant, as well as ensuring that the wider college experience is excellent. For Course Representatives systems to be successful it is vital that they are trained to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to be effective. These resources have been written to allow you to deliver in-house training to your course representatives. The materials offer a model two hour training session, including tutors notes, participants work books, a standard PowerPoint and tutor’s survival kit. Some of the resources can be personalised, allowing you to make them appropriate to your particular institution. This session could be run at any time of the year for up to twenty learners per session. Training is the key to successful learner involvement and the effective use of the ‘Learner Voice’; we trust you will find these resources useful. Please click on the links to access the resources. Please note, some of the files are large, and may take a few minutes to download depending on your internet connection.
