The 2008 QIA and CEL summer conferences, Making a success, will set the scene for the new sector-led improvement organisation, helping staff in the further education and skills sector understand the range of support available to them.

Details on the current programme and how to register can be found below.

2008 Programme

The 2008 programme will be highly interactive seeking to gain feedback on the new organisation's proposed structure and planned programmes and services.

The conferences will give practitioners a chance to share effective practice across the sector, encourage debate on what excellence looks like and how it can be achieved, and provide us with an opportunity to get feedback from you on our planned programmes and services.

  • Delegates attending the first conference in Bristol will be the first to hear an announcement on the new sector-led organisation's official name.
  • In addition, there will be addresses from Bill Rammell MP, Minister of State, for Lifelong Learning, Further and Higher Education, and Sir George Sweeney, Chair, The Single Voice for Self Regulation (for Further Education). Kate Anderson, QIA's acting chief executive and group director, Improvement and Strategy will be leading a round table discussion to launch the consultation on the National Improvement Strategy, helping you to understand what this means for you.
  • A choice of workshops are offered, covering topics such as developing employer responsive provision, models of good practice in teaching and learning and peer review and its contribution to the move to self-regulation.
