Technical requirements
The Gold Dust resources are in a variety of formats:
- Word
- Video
- Interactive quizzes and resources
- Zip files
You will need the software outlined below to open specific files on this webiste
The 'How to use the resources' link will take you to information on how to use the resources in your teaching and learning.
Word
Depending on the browser you are using, these will either open in a new browser window or will give you the option to download the Word document and open or save it on your PC.
You will need Adobe PDF Reader in order to view the pdf documents. You can download it from the Adobe website for free.
Video
The video clips are in RealPlayer video format and you will need the RealPlayer to play the clips. You can download RealPlayer from the Real website. The RealPlayer is available free from this link in a format suitable for Windows - select Download Free RealPlayer.
The downloadable video clips are also in Real Player format. They can be opened either with Real Player or Windows Media Player.
Interactive quizzes and resources
These require Flash Player which can be downloaded free from the Adobe website.
Zip Files
For the "from chaos to database" activitiy the image files have been included as zip files. You will need suitable software to open these. A free download demo version of Winzip is available from the Winzip website and other alternatives are available. If you are using a computer running Windows XP you should be able to unzip the file by double clicking on the zip file.
The original Standards Unit resources are now available online on the QIA Excellence Gateway http://teachingandlearning.qia.org.uk
These include the resources used on this site plus many additional resources. They are available to view online and to download. Full versions of the CDs and DVDs produced by the Standards Unit are available to download.
