The STAR Awards recognise the dedication and expertise of staff in the further education system who are making a significant contribution to improving the skill level of young people and adult learners.

Learners and further education staff have requested more time to make their 2008 STAR nominations due to the hectic exam period and half-term break. In response to this request we have extended the deadline for nominations by three weeks. Anyone can nominate, so if you know someone who works hard to improve the quality of teaching and learning then you now have until Friday 27 June to make your nomination.

Now in their fifth year, the QIA STAR Awards play an important role in identifying and celebrating the excellent and innovative achievements of staff working in the further education system.

There are ten award categories for 2008, and judges will be looking for nominations which provide evidence of what makes your STAR really inspirational. Anyone can nominate, including learners, colleagues and managers.

Everyone who makes a nomination will be entered into a prize draw for a £250 cash prize. All shortlisted nominees and their nominators will be invited to the glittering awards ceremony in London on 24 November.
